But aren&#039;t many lives captured by conflict, people held in situations over which they have little or no control though, unlike Shalit, they are allowed some degree of freedom?

To me the death of any soldier or &quot;martyr&quot;, or  imprisonment, formal or informal, with little chance of escape, should not be seen as a call by those dead or imprisoned for others to wage more war. Rather it is a call to end the madness, to change the overarching situation so that others do not follow them to the same fate.</description>
