Fiction has been posing for years as truth at the BBC, the Guardian, and al Jazeerah. In fact, al Jazeerah tends to be less fictional than the British media. So sorry Haim, you are not original

Here's my illustration for Haim's story as published in the Jerusalem Report:

http://www.avikatz.net/report/jrep5/hagar-the-cat.html

There's a great kids' book called "The Tigrine Cat" about marketplace cats I've try to convince an Israeli publisher to translate, if I can do the illustrations....no soap. Instead somebody wants me to to a comix of "War and Peace". Go figure.

The best practitioner of "imaginative reporting," in my opinion, is Ryszard Kapuscinski. Read "The Emperor" for a truly astonishing example of this kind of writing. You're on a good path in good company.

I got sucked in because of the subject. It's what I see when I go to Israel. It is a necessary story and Hagar was a creative stroke..

Available garbage, ubiquitous dumpsters are part of the story ( or problem).

I took a picture on our recent trip to a moshav in the Golan of a grey cat, similar to one I have here at home, resting on top of a green dumpster. He was definitely king .

I like the short sketch form-using real life and the strict rules you set for your writing.

I can also see a graphic component ...cats on dumpsters. A sort of a short story version of "Persepolis" "Maus" "Jimmy Corrigan"...
