There’s a great kids’ book called “The Tigrine Cat” about marketplace cats I’ve try to convince an Israeli publisher to translate, if I can do the illustrations….no soap. Instead somebody wants me to to a comix of “War and Peace”. Go figure.

The best practitioner of “imaginative reporting,” in my opinion, is Ryszard Kapuscinski. Read “The Emperor” for a truly astonishing example of this kind of writing. You’re on a good path in good company.

I got sucked in because of the subject. It’s what I see when I go to Israel. It is a necessary story and Hagar was a creative stroke..

Available garbage, ubiquitous dumpsters are part of the story ( or problem).

I took a picture on our recent trip to a moshav in the Golan of a grey cat, similar to one I have here at home, resting on top of a green dumpster. He was definitely king .

I like the short sketch form-using real life and the strict rules you set for your writing.

I can also see a graphic component …cats on dumpsters. A sort of a short story version of “Persepolis” “Maus” “Jimmy Corrigan”…
